Human Skull

Homo sapiens

A life-sized stainless steel human skull sculpture. A polished anatomical study exploring the boundary between medical science and evolution.

The human skull is a universal symbol of mortality and the complex seat of our evolutionary history. This sculpture, rendered in stainless steel and polished to a near-clinical finish, explores the intersection of biology and medical science.

Originally exhibited at the British Institute of Radiology for The Art of Medicine exhibition, the piece was presented resting atop a copy of Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species. This pairing invites a reflection on evolution as a tangible force written into our very skeletal structure. The reflective surface of the steel mirrors the tools of modern medicine—surgical instruments and imaging equipment—while the form itself remains a permanent, unwavering tribute to the foundation of human anatomy.
