The Blue Marlin: A Stainless Steel Sculpture
The Blue Marlin (Makaira nigricans) is an icon of the open ocean, renowned for its incredible speed, endurance, and its signature spear-like bill. This sculpture captures the marlin in its most dynamic state—leaping from the water with its powerful, muscular body curved in a display of raw energy.
Using stainless steel, I meticulously layered the metal to replicate the sleek, hydrodynamic form of the fish. The sculpture's placement above a water feature allows the metal to catch shifting reflections, mimicking the wet shimmer of a marlin breaching the surface. This piece transforms a garden boundary into a dramatic scene of marine life, celebrating the unmatched spirit of the "king of the sea."
