“A collection of three life-sized stainless steel Song Thrush sculptures. Features intricate layered metalwork to mimic speckled plumage.”
The Song Thrush is one of the most beloved voices of the British countryside, famed for its loud, musical calls and its distinctive, heavily speckled breast. This collection features three individually sculpted thrushes, each captured in a slightly different, alert posture as if pausing mid-song.
Crafted from stainless steel, these life-sized birds showcase a meticulous approach to metal plumage. To replicate the bird's iconic speckled breast, I utilised smaller, jagged layers of steel that catch the light and create a broken, textured pattern. This transitions smoothly into the longer, sleek plates that form the flight feathers of the folded wings and tail.
Rather than mounting them on heavy, naturalistic branches, this trio is perched on delicate, hand-forged circular steel loops. This minimalist presentation gives the sculptures a clean, contemporary feel, making them perfect for an indoor display where their subtle character can be appreciated up close.
